Every element of life, according to Jatin Das, possesses innate energy. His paintings of men and women caught in the throes of emotional turmoil, capturing the variety of emotions created as a result of people's interactions with society and nature, demonstrate this vitality.

Jatin Das finds inspiration constantly in relationships, especially those between men and women, with all the joy and suffering that comes with them. His paintings are distinguished by rhythmic colour discontinuities and racing lines. Jatin focuses on using colour to bring out the intricacies of mind and emotion. He gained fame in the 1960s and 1970s, in particular, for his paintings of the naked or "bare figure" shapes.

Jatin Das has also collaborated with art institutions in a variety of capacities, including as a teacher at the National School of Drama and the College of Art in New Delhi, as well as a consultant for the Handicrafts Board and the Folk Art Museum in Orissa, to name a few of the roles he held. His works were showcased in 1991 by the Lalit Kala Akademi. Jatin Das has an impressive artistic career, having showcased his works in a total of 68 solo exhibitions in India and around the world. His artistic abilities have been recognized in a myriad of national and international exhibitions and artist camps. His preferred mediums include oil, watercolour, ink and Conté, and he has dabbled in different forms of art such as graphics, murals, sculptures and art installations. He also created an artwork - "Journey of India from Mohenjodaro to Mahatma Gandhi" for the Parliament Annexe. The artwork is 7 feet high and 68 feet long, and took the artist two-and-a-half years to complete.

Born in 1941, Jatin Das completed his education in 1962 from Sir J. J. School of Fine Arts, Mumbai. He has held many solo exhibition including: include "Hand-held Space," 2010–11, Museum Gallery; Gallery Art and Soul, Mumbai; "The Artists Alley Gallery," 2009, San Francisco, USA; "Chelsea Arts Club," 2009, London; "Kumari Art Gallery," 1976; "Gallery de Sfinx," 1975; "Commonwealth Institute Art Gallery,” 1975; "Schloss Bellevue,” 1975; and "City Museum and Art Gallery,” 1975." He has taken part in numerous group exhibitions, such as "Moderene Kunst Heute" (1982), at the Museum of Modern Art in Darmstad, West Germany; "Contemporary Paintings in Miniature Format," at the Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi; "All India Exhibition of Prints," in Chandigarh; and "Asian Arts," in New Delhi.
