Vatsya Padia
Belonging feels layered to me formed where past and present sit together without conflict. I work with photographs, memories, and painted surfaces to hold multiple moments on a single plane. Home is not a fixed place, it is a feeling shaped by comfort, familiarity, and the people who have nurtured me. My work does not ask to be read linearly. It invites pause, playfulness, and the freedom for viewers to find their own memories reflected back.

Vatsya’s practice brings together printmaking, painting, and photography through a layered process developed during her academic years in Baroda. Early influences include the old Faculty of Fine Arts building, which became a site of memory and belonging. Coming from a family of artists, Vatsya’s work is informed by conversations, shared histories, and personal archives. Her paintings often merge past and present spaces, using colour and illusion to create a sense of calm, continuity, and quiet introspection.
