About Shalini Soni Mazumdar

Born on 14th January 1976

My work is a confluence of the old and the new, a meeting point of what I understand of traditional art and what is considered contemporary. Sometimes my compositions bring forth ironic questions about today’s world with a tinge of humour or sometimes they present alluring paradoxes about the life we live today. My paintings are questions I hand over to the viewer; to think, to reflect and introspect.

Shalini Soni Mazumdar holds an M.A. (History of Arts) Punjab University, Chandigarh, a B.A. (Additional) - Fine Arts and Painting from J.N.V.U., Jodhpur and a graduating Diploma (3 years), Commercial Arts (with honors) Women's Polytechnic College, Jodhpur. She has been a part various group and solo shows across the country. She has also been recognized and awarded by many organizations for her contemporary and traditional work.
