Indian artists have been influenced by the rich spiritual and mythological stories from India. Raja Ravi Varma, India’s first major artist painted scenes from Hindu mythology in his realistic style, giving life and human faces to these characters for the first time. His depiction of these stories also reached far and wide with the launch of his lithographs,. Even modern artists like M.F Husain and S.H Raza were deeply influenced by Indian spirituality and went on to create artworks like Saraswati and the Bindu series respectively. Browse through our carefully curated collection of contemporary indian spiritual paintings to discover Basuki Dasgupta’s renditions of Durga, Anand Panchal’s intricate depiction of mythology, Amol Pawar’s transcendental spiritual works, Yograj Verma’s depictions of divinity in oil and many more.
