About Simran Yagyik
Simran Yagyik invites us into the thoughts of an introverted mind with unlimited possibilities of the Unconsciousness. Her melancholic self-portraits, mostly autobiographical in nature, are a representation of the submerged emotions and thoughts that surface inside the distressed mind. In her recent series of works Absurd Glances, she depicts the social anxiety that penetrates her mind once she steps into a public space. She explores the consciousness and stiffness of the mind and body indicating the larger unknown fear of being watched by absolute strangers. Imaginative spaces like deserted lands, grass fields and water bodies fused with everyday objects reflect the then internal reality, reflecting her disguised feelings.
