About Lakhan Singh Jat
Born on 5th January 1986
Born in 1986 and raised in the serene countryside of Rajasthan, India, I LSJ, am a visual artist, knownfor vivid and emotionally resonant depictions of various forms of life events, set against ruralbackdrops. After completing MFA in 2009 from Rajasthan School of Art, in Jaipur, I started workingas a freelance artist and exhibited my paintings in many parts of India.Educated at the Rajasthan School of Art in Jaipur, I have always tried to fuse the traditional Indian artforms with contemporary techniques. My paintings generally feature rural landscapes, dotted withtraditional huts, undulating fields, serving as a backdrop to the human stories I portray. My journey into art began in the lush fields and vibrant surroundings of my hometown, where I wasdeeply inspired by the spectrum of emotions and interactions within the close-knit community, a placewhere the rhythm of nature intertwines with the heartbeat of its people, I found myself captivated bythe stories and experiences that unfolded in this bucolic setting. My works are a celebration of human connections, exploring the diverse facets of love from theinnocent affection between childhood friends to the profound bond of elderly companions, infinitelove, eternal relations etc. My canvases are alive with the rich colour of rural India, the fiery reds oftraditional outfits, the deep blues of monsoon skies, and the golden hues of harvest fields. This vibrantpalette is not just a visual choice but a metaphor for the intensity and variety of emotions in humanrelationships. With time and my life experiences my forms, backgrounds, figures, style keep evolving. I haveworked on childhood memories, nature, virtual vs real world and more in my 20 years of art journey.Recently during a visit to [Name of the Place], I was captivated by a couple I observed. . Theirunspoken bond, the subtlety of their interactions, and the way they seamlessly blended into the rusticsurroundings sparked a profound inspiration in him. This encounter became the cornerstone of myartistic exploration, to portray the depth and diversity of love through his art. Also my figures are inspired by the style of clothing and headgear I saw in deities of a temple there. My art is a dialogue about the universal nature of love, transcending the rural-urban divide. Eachpiece is an invitation to the viewer to explore the depth and complexity of emotions like couples inlove, love between friends and siblings that connect us all.I am a storyteller at heart, seeking to connect people through the shared experiences of love, longing, and belonging. My future projects aim to further explore the intricate dance of human emotionsagainst the canvas of rural life.As a visionary, I continue to evolve, using my art to bridge the gap between the rustic charm of rurallife and the universal experiences of love and life experiences.Through my art, I invite viewers tojourney into these intimate, rural settings, to feel the pulse of the relationships that unfold withinthem, and to reflect on the universal nature of love and connection. My paintings are more than justvisual representations; they are invitations to explore the depths of human emotion and the beauty oflife in its most honest form.
