About Bajju Parthan
Baiju Parthan (born in Kerala.1956) received his Bachelor’s Degree in Painting and Master of Arts in Philosophy. He is a Mumbai based inter-media artist, working simultaneously with traditional media of painting as well as digital and tech-based installation art. He is one of the early exponents of new media art and mediatic-realism in the Indian contemporary art scene.
Baiju Parthan's chosen vocabulary consists of arcane symbols, found imagery, as well as contemporary photographic materials that are woven together to create paintings, prints, and installations that reveal a dense multi layered phenomenological landscape. One among the five nominess for artist of the year 2000 award by Sotheby’s London. Receiver of the Gao Lalit Kala Academy Award 1981 and Goa Lalit Kala Academy Merit Award in the years 1978,1979,1980 and 1981.
Baiju Parthan has exhibited his art to acclaim in major centres in India, and internationally across the globe.
Currently lives and works in Mumbai.
