Read More A seascape is a photograph, painting, or other work of art which depicts the sea, in other words an example of marine art. The word originated as a formation from landscape, which was first used of images of land in art. As opposed to landscapes, seascape paintings portray a view either from the coastline or at sea; this can include anything from oceans, beaches and coastlines to nautical scenes - battles on sea, boats, islands . The seaside is an ever-changing landscape; its consistent motion and the half-hidden rocks and submerged sea creatures suggested mystery and uncertainty. The juxtaposition of a sophisticated man-made ship with the unpredictable and dangerous nature of the ocean and Mother Nature itself is part of what draws the admiration of many enthusiasts. It was the muse of famous artists like JMW Turner and Claude Monet.
