Born in Mumbai in 1977, Nimbolkar grew up amidst the hum of the city but found his muse in quieter, organic forms. The delicate embroidery his mother practised at home first taught him that patience and precision could hold poetry. Trained with a Master’s in Painting, Art Education, and Indology, he approaches each work with both a scholar’s depth and an artist’s intuition.
Deeply influenced by the spiritual abstraction of Raza, the meditative quiet of Gaitonde, and the lyrical structure of Swaminathan, Vivek’s works reinterpret these legacies through his own lens: earthy, radiant, and deeply personal. His signature “Bindu-like” suns and moons, the play of triangles and circles, and his luminous yellows and reds create a visual language that feels timeless and transcendental.
For collectors, his paintings hold a rare balance: they are rooted in Indian modernism yet unmistakably contemporary. Each work feels like a meditation, alive with energy yet calm at its core. The deliberate lines and textures seem to breathe, guiding the viewer’s eye through a rhythm that is almost musical.
As Vivek says, “A line is like a journey. Each one is distinct, leading to its own discovery.”
His works are a reminder that abstraction, when born from nature and observation, can illuminate the soul.
