I had a strong passion for representational paintings which in fact, still exists. However, I have also developed a keen interest in other varied types of painting and drawing lately. Basically, my artistic pursuits can be labeled as a mirror reflection of all the intentional and unintentional experiences acquired and assimilated by me during the course of my journey called life. My responses to the childhood feelings, experiences, reactions and dreams are represented as an observer, without falling prey to nostalgia. I have always tried to converse with viewers at various levels with multiple connotations. I aim to keep my drawing as an integral part of the painting and my representations of kids in different moods, in different actions with different expressions are not mere representations but at a more subtle level, are statements of life with all its joy, sorrow, frustration, problems and a kind of playfulness which was inevitable of that period.
Manoj Kumar Sakale was born in a small village called Nandre in Sangali district in the state of Maharashtra. In the initial stages, representational art got deep rooted in his being. After completing formal studies in 1997, for some period, he worked in the Academic style and created Landscapes, still life and portraits. Portrait painting had become his favorite subject and profession as well. After which, he started painting village characters in watercolor and oil. While doing this, the division of space and a different approach to composition started being important in his paintings. The experimentation of medium to bring about the beauty was also one of the prime concerns in the creations of that time. He felt that the cultural characters of Maharashtra which had a rich and esthetic heritage were getting extinct and so he wished to paint them relentlessly.
He has held solo exhibitions at various renowned art galleries like Gallery Leela- Sahara Mumbai, Art Society of India Mumbai, Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, and many more
