About Gayatri Halder
Gayatri Halder’s works speak of her fascination with abstruseness and the immense complexity of nature. She is on a constant exploration for subtle patterns of venation and repeated motifs of flora. The truth and the mystery that these orderly and rhythmic patterns carry often remind her of the pulsation of nature that we choose to ignore in the age of technology. Most of her works carry no colour but the paperwhite symbolizing purity, simplicity, and spirituality of nature. Choosing needles to create her drawings that need delicate attention, has led her inward journey to experience the serenity of nature. Every point of piercing, she discovered, reveals subtle patterns of venation of flora. With the conscious choice of paper, she chose a material that saw its origin in the forests and transformed once again to make its journey back to the origin through her works; embodying the paradoxical qualities of strength and delicacy, frailty, and durability, complicacy, and purity.
