About DB Waterman
Mixed media artist, DB Waterman’s formative years were spent studying at the Art Academy in Den Bosch, Netherlands. Today, she regards herself as a self taught artist who has developed her own distinct style out of the untraditional medium of collage. She started a personal quest her own recognizable signature style. Her passion grew in visual storytelling – bringing together many seemingly incoherent story lines into one new story – her personal story. Initially, it lacked the transparency that is possible only with watercolor and she did not want to miss out on this transparency and after a lot of trial and error, she finally assembled original photography or digitally edited photographs, assorted paper, acrylics, oil, charcoal, ink and pencil in her work in such a way that every medium remains visible. Having always loved the appearance of weathered walls plastered with peeling paint and old posters, Weatherman revives this aesthetic with a keen eye. The creative object of her work is to make something out of dilapidation. Her work has been featured in an exhibition called ‘100 Days of Dutch Art’.
