About Arpitha Reddy

Arpitha Reddy, immersed in the artistic legacy of Kerala, intricately weaves the state's rich mural tradition into her captivating canvas creations. Drawn to the abundant vegetation and detailed compositions of Kerala's murals, Reddy masterfully embraces the nuanced canons of this age-old tradition. Her passion-driven journey delves into strict features—stance, proportion, and iconographic depictions—where even the eyes' expressions and intricate patterns adhere to tradition.

While Reddy received formal training in mural paintings, her current endeavors transcend traditional boundaries. Embracing adaptation and other ancient art forms, she imparts a modern twist to mythological pieces. Her recent works resonate with legends, intertwining human experiences with symbolic depictions of flowers, elements, and a diverse palette. Reddy's art radiates a meticulous study of kalamkari and textile traditions, evident in the intricate borders, floral motifs, and figure ornamentation that evoke a vibrant dialogue with mural traditions, echoing the divine within us all.

2012: “Kalidasa Rashtriya Puraskar” from the Kalidasa Academy, Ujjain in the traditional painting category for the depiction of Putrakameshtiyagam from Raghuvamsham by Kalidasa.
2009: 3rd prize in Traditional Art category at the National Art Exhibition held by South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur.
2008: Special award for Women Artists at the National Painting Exhibition conducted by Kalidasa Academy, Ujjain.
