Mahaveer Swami is descended from a family of Traditional Bikaner Painters. As a child he began training with his fatherM.R. Swami and grandfather M.D. Swami. Later he studied under late VedpalSharma “Bannu” in Jaipur.

Mahaveer Swami revived the bestaspects of the sophisticated and refinedBikaner School of painting with an originality andbrilliance unique among contemporary miniaturists. Mahaveer Swami stands out ofthousands of traditional painters not only because of his great skills indrawing and painting. But also because he has an ability to recognize thedifference between the truly fine and mundane although he possesses the skillto copy any other painting perfectly he prefers to explore new subjects, newcontexts and new forms of expressions. For instance, he has created a series ofpaintings based on the daily life of Indian women, a theme rarely explored byearlier miniature painters.

Mahaveer working style isstrongly influenced by his studies of Mughaland Rajasthani Miniatures. His subject matter is often drawn from the life style of holy men and women, daily life of Indian women and sometimes from Hindu Mythological terms.
