Artflute review

Lo ! A middle aged man is set in profile against the abstract red and obfuscating black. The figure is naked at upper half with a beard and ruffled hair looks like a saint/ holy person. He has smeared a thick white paste on head and is set to look to the right is a gaze that makes one wonder for the invisible (?). The very calligraphic Devanagri script adds to the inherent spirituality and looks stunning. Going into the details- the very symbolism is heightened with the blackened sphere visible to foretell an eclipsed vision with the yellow being pushed out from underneath.

Vijay Shelwante, the artist has a very interesting oeuvre of works with themes ranging from spiritual sojourn with harmony and folklore.
