Artflute review
A bodhisattva, an icon in the Buddhist pantheon is drawn here in this media of wood block. In this monotony of mystic blue, the lotus, whish is painted in lime yellow and is angular with its stalk and petal looks more mechanical in contract to its actual sinuous and graceful form. Here, the Bodhisattva- the Padmapani is set to its essentials and is devoid of a facial identity and also devoid of any rustic ornamentation and jewels. Its borders are torn as pages of a manuscript. Artist aptly titles it- lotus in workers life, as if held in workers hand will signify what? But interestingly the usual crown has not been replaced to inherit the set iconography.
Prashant Sitapara is a promising artist, who is very much original and whose works are initiation from his experiences of daily life, social concern and he travels a lot.
